A barrier which ends abruptly without a tension cable or any form of impact protection.
A blunt end is unprotected. If a vehicle were to hit it the consequences could be extreme, including flipping, or spearing. These unprotected ends are typically only allowed on the "downstream" end of barriers on divided highways, away from on coming traffic.
